Gull Island

Gull Island is one of the most beautiful islands in the United States. The Island offers world-class golf, beautiful beaches, wildlife, recreation, dining, and entertainment.

Gull Island is an island within an island. Located in the Sea Pines Plantation near the southern tip of Hilton Head, the Island is rich with breathtaking views and an abundance of wildlife.

Gull Island is a unique and secluded property. The island measures 9.5 acres within the Sea Pines Resort with just three building lots. It is well connected via a causeway. The building is built with comfort and elegance in mind. The building itself is timeless. The custom home on the property was built in 2001 with six bedrooms, six bathrooms, two half baths, a chef’s kitchen, wine cellar, porches, patios, a pool, and nicely attached guest house.

The connection between Gull Island, Hilton Head and Sea Pines Plantation is about one man – Charles Fraser. He was the founder of Gull Island. One of his timeless contributions to the development of Gull Island is the formulation of a master plan. He ensured that the Island remained natural in its beauty. His visionary plans also helped to transform Hilton Head.

Gull Island is just 25 minutes drive from the Hilton Head airport and an hour from the Savannah, Georgia airport. Its closeness to two airports makes flight connection super easy.

Gull Island is perfectly protected from the Atlantic Ocean. This makes it more like a sanctuary. It is a quick walk to the beach and easily located between the Harbour Town and the South Beach area of Sea Pines.

The Island is a part of the rich history of the Lowcountry. It is a wildlife habitat.  It has become a dwelling place for rabbits, raccoons, and different types of birds including owl and Osprey who have become regular visitors on the Island. Deer also frequently roam the property and can be seen grazing without any hindrance. The marsh on the Island has become a feeding ground for birds such as egrets, herons, ibis and many others.

After Charles Fraser’s death, his group of friends who used to brainstorm with him has continued to sustain his ideas and visions for the Island by forming a think-tank.

His friends love to enjoy each other’s company anytime they come together. They have been getting together for the past 30 years. They enjoy what is called the “porch party”. They always love to travel together sharing a wonderful experience of wine whenever it is possible. The connection with wine is because Gull Island has a wine cellar within the property. The wine cellar is located off the foyer and down the stairs. The custom-built wine rack can hold more than 2,500 bottles. This unique wine cellar is spacious enough with an eight-foot table and eight chairs; providing the perfect environment for entertaining with wine dinners. The wine cellar is large enough for social gatherings.

There is no doubt the Gull Island is a one of a kind place.
