Review of LUX: A Medical Spa in Hilton Head, SC

November 4, 2020

You know how women, especially my age, tend to tout that they are “all-natural” and don’t do any preventative aging care? Well, I’m calling BS on that! When will we just admit it ladies? It’s okay to take care of your skin in order to keep it youthful for as long as possible. It’s called self-care and if the technology is there, why not?! For those of you that are truly all-natural and have been blessed with skin that just won’t age, I envy you! In this post, I’m going to give you a sneak peak into one of my self-care, preventative routines that I visit LUX: A Medical Spa for. Let’s dive in!

I visited LUX in Hilton Head, SC for the first time five years ago and have not looked back. One of my best decisions by far. I originally decided to try out some of their services because I was noticing sun damage and sun spots from living and working outside in the southern heat and sun. Maggie, a LUX Aesthetician, quickly became my best friend all those years ago. I’d say we bonded pretty heavily when she caught basil cell on my face and recommended a dermatologist to take care of it – that’s enough to keep you coming back!

Fast forward to present day, I now visit LUX and Maggie on a regular basis, or at least I did prior to COVID. Microneedling is a big part of my self-care/preventative skin routine and the team at LUX are the absolute pros at it. Their microneedling service has not only cleared up my skin, but has also tightened my poors and reduced overall redness. One of the reasons I love microneedling so much is because there is basically zero downtime. For a day my skin will look red and wind burnt, but give it 24 hours and it is back to normal… well actually better than normal as you start to see the benefits from the service. I’ve done chemical peels before and although they have great benefits, I would peel for 7 days after and that doesn’t bode well for my career. I am always on the run and on sets – aka around people.

I also visit LUX for BBL (BroadBand Light) treatment from time to time. This treatment improves pore size and aids in fixing all the damage the sun does to my skin on a regular basis. The Hilton Head, SC sun is no joke! Along with the treatments, Maggie always sends me home with preventative tips – wear sunscreen all day and everyday, drink more water, etc. I can’t say I’m always the best at listening, BUT I try!

What you came here for was my review though, right? Well, I’m sure this won’t come as a shock based on the above, but I absolutely love the results I’ve had from my self-care routine at LUX. Like I said, it has been one of my best decisions yet to put the health of my skin first and get on a path to conserving a youthful glow. Not only does Maggie know her stuff, but the whole team at LUX is well versed in skincare and how to handle the needs of different skin types. By visiting them I also have someone always looking out for my skin too. Meaning, they are always on the lookout for things that are not good – new moles, freckles, etc – so that I’m on top of any risks from being in the sun too much. Visiting LUX is one of my favorite forms of self-care and I already can’t wait for my next visit! They get five stars from me all day, everyday!
